Nobody reads this, but that's ok; nobody reads
my knitting blog either.
Anyway, I'm joining
The Knitting Olympics. Oh yes. Other links include

Who wants to join up with me?
RESONANCE MADE
BOCA!!!!!!!
I just decided that I'm giving a recital. It'll probably be in the spring... sometime when I'm not too busy. I may schedule it after I get my class syllabi. I'm looking for a place to have it. I'll see if MIT will let me have Killian Hall if I beg them, otherwise maybe I can do it in some random room or a Kresge Rehearsal Room or, like, Twenty Chimneys (in the Student Center.) If all else fails, I can have it at Harvard for $150. Whee.
As to what I will sing... I'll probably do a Handel set, since that seems to be my specialty. Probably an American set - Copland and Barber or what have you. Maybe some French. Maybe some Italian. Maybe some Schubert, for a break. Probably some random coloratura. It's been a long time since I performed solo, so my stack of stuff to sing has gotten pretty thick by now. I wouldn't want it to be too much longer than an hour though. Suggestions?
Who would come if I had it, say, Patriot's Day weekend?
Resonance is broke and we need money. If we don't get any money, the CD will be good, but if we do get enough money, the CD will be freaking amazing. And we've put waaaay too much time and work into it for it to just be good. For that reason, we need to sell CD's right now. If we don't sell enough, we may have to start putting money toward it out of pocket, which would be bad. So:
I know that many of you are close enough friends to me that you would buy the CD anyway, seeing that I'm on it. So I'm asking you: just pre-order it instead of waiting for it to come out. It'll only cost you $12 instead of the $15 it will cost once it comes out. The CD will come out in a couple months, and we will give it to you or ship it to you for an additional $2 then.
Even if you're not close enough friends with me to buy the CD anyway, you should buy it because it's going to be AMAZING. It really is. I've heard premixes of some of the tracks and they're already spectacular. The tracks that will be on it are:
Amazing (Josh Kelley)
Mystify (Chenoa)
Unwell (Matchbox 20)
Fortune Faded (Chili Peppers)
Maria (Blondie)
Take Me Away (Fefe Dobson)
Ghost (Indigo Girls)
Shimmer (Fuel)
Here Is Gone (Goo Goo Dolls)
Love Song for No One (John Mayer)
Let Go (Frou Frou)
Why Can't I? (Liz Phair)
And... I guess that's it, because I can't remember any more. Anyway, those are all arranged and performed by us (Resonance of MIT.) They will all sound awesome.
So you can preorder the new one for $12, or buy the old CD (which you can read about on the website) for $15 or get both together for $20. Just download the form off the website, or drop me a comment, or talk to me, or whatever, and I'll be sure your preorder goes in.
Thanks so much guys! You guys are the best.

You may remember when
I bitched and moaned about the UROP. Well, I didn't mention it, but I found a job! Actually, two!
After getting so annoyed about the UROP's I was interviewing for, I decided to try to get a job the old-fashioned way. My boyfriend forwarded an email to me about a really part-time job as a grunt laborer in a chem lab. Then, the day after I got back, I interviewed for it and got it. I started literally right after the interview. Yay! It was really really part-time though, so I was still hoping for the other job...
Also while I was home, my mom asked my former employer if he knew anyone in the Boston area. He gave a few suggestions, and I emailed them. It turned out that this guy down at Harvard Medical School had a post-doc who had an undergrad working for her who was going to leave in about a week. So they interviewed me two days after I got back in town, and offered me the job that night. It was awesome. This is a full-time job in a lab in Neurobiology, working with fruit fly aggression. Basically, I get to set up fruit fly cage matches and then analyze the RNA of the winners and losers. It's pretty awesome. I get to watch the tapes of these fights, and there's all this cool stuff that the flies do when they're fighting. I really enjoy it. Also, I'm doing microbiology (which I'm good at) in what is not a microbiology lab, which means that I'm really speeding up a project that they haven't been having much luck on so far, and feeling really good about that, and also getting to wear sandals and skirts and things. I'm having a lot of fun. If all that wasn't enough, my mentor is a really nice guy who won an award for mentorship and is an Academy member. And he buys the lab food! It's awesome.
That about sums up my new job. I've only been at it for two weeks, after all. It's shaping up to be a really good job.
I'm going to be out of town for the weekend, as I will be getting my boyfriend's new car. (My boyfriend is coming along too.) Road trip!! New Prius!!
Yay! Check out

Bonnaroo was AMAZING. I may write more, but for now, bands I heard, in chronological order:
Alison Krauss & Union Station
Jurassic 5
The Allman Brothers Band
Bela Fleck Acoustic Trio
Dave Matthews Band
Ozomatli
M. Ward
Yonder Mountain String Band
Jack Johnson
Iron & Wine
Widespread Panic
Secret Machines
Trey Anastasio
Amos Lee
Umphrey's McGee
My Morning Jacket

Winners:

Saturday: Iron & Wine
Sunday: Amos Lee
Bands that I hadn't heard of before Bonnaroo but that got me really excited when I heard them anyway:
Ozomatli
Yonder Mountain String Band
Conspicuous omission:
Keller Williams. Here's the thing. He was playing at the exact same time as Iron & Wine, and I really really wanted to see both of them. But I decided that it would probably be easier to catch Iron & Wine on tour, so I decided to go see Keller. Nat and I went to see Keller, and the others went to see Iron & Wine. Then when we got to Keller's tent fifteen minutes early, it was already PACKED. Like, usually there are lots and lots of people there but they space themselves out so if you want you can get really close. No. People were crammed under this tent. Partly because there were so many people and partly because it was raining. The problem was that the great thing about seeing Keller is seeing him. Most of his recordings are of him live, so hearing him live is about the same as hearing a recording of him. And since Nat and I weren't going to get to see him, and we probably weren't even going to get under the tent, we decided to see Iron & Wine. We got a spot right in the middle for Iron & Wine and we could see them and it was a truly amazing performance. I'm glad I got to see it. And I'm probably going to catch Keller in late July at the Tweeter Center. So good deal.
Speaking of which, if anyone wants to come with me to Big Summer Classic on July 23 and see String Cheese Incident, Keller Williams, Yonder Mountain String Band, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Umphrey's McGee, and New Monsoon, let me know! We should buy tickets together, and soon.
Senior Haus is a great place. I prefer East Campus myself, but if you think Senior Haus is the place for you, you should definitely live there. A SH alumna made this page about Steer Roast and SH in general:
