Happy New Years!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Yay! Its officially 2005! We had an awesomely fun New Year's party at my house, with my whoooole family (parents, siblings, grandparents, cousin, aunt, the whole shebang), one of my mom's friend's families, and my best friend's family. It was awesome.

We hung around, ate appetizers and dinner, then talked till we realized it was about a minute and a half till midnight. We watched the ball drop in Time Square (which Im sad to say is just not as exciting as it used to be when I was oh, five) and drank sparkling cider. Not champagne, I know I know. Quite sad. But my parents decided it would be in everyones best interest not to give a bunch of already-nuts teenagers alchohol. Probably a good decision on their part. Then everyone (and I again mean everyone) played Pictionary. Pictionary is a very interesting game when you have people from the ages of 14 to 70 playing. One of the words we all had to draw was 'spank.' I'll leave that all to you to think about what was made of that at the time. So we all played that till about 2:15 am, when we snapped out of our sparking-cider-induced-nuttyness and everyone went home.

So now, here I sit, awake in my room and 5:30 am trying to finish some college applications that are due by midnight tonight. I only have about oh, 5 essays left to write. Joy, rapture. It feels about ten times more difficult to write these now becuase im almost positive (if 75% sure counts as almost positive) that I am going to come to MIT in the fall, so its painful to still be doing these! Argh. Well after today the college application nightmare will officially be over. Though, I have to say its not as bad as people make it out to be. Especially if you are like me and write one personal statement and send that to schools no matter whether or not it reeeaaally fits the essay topic. Ive gotta say though, I am sick and tired of filling in my name and address five hundred thousand times on a single application. You would think that there could be a checkbox that says 'address same as your permanent one' for your temporary mailing address, your mom's address, your dad's address, your siblings addresses, and your dog's address. Juuuust maybe.

Oh, some randomness: I somehow woke up at 4:30....in the afternoon (which would kind of explain why Im still awake right now, writing this at oh, 5:30 AM). Its not like I went to bed especially late, only about 2 AM (which is not all that late for me during break) and then just...didnt wake up till then.

Hm...what else can I possibly bore you with? That is if you are still reading at this point. Which I highly doubt as I stopped paying attention myself about 2 paragraphs ago. Hm, I think my piano teacher is going to kill me someday. She asks me at the beginning of the lesson, “so what did you practice this week?” not “did you practice what I assigned you last week” but “WHAT did you practice.” Hahaha. In case you're curious, Im teaching myself to play “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban. He has an absolutely beautiful voice. I <3 him totally.

Ah! An Idea. (Yes, I almost always capitalize the word Idea. If you wanna know why, ask me to explain in person. Its kinda complicated.) I will list for you all of my favorite bands/singers. Actually, more like whats in my playlist on my computer, becuase im too lazy to think hard enough to remember all of them. Dont kill me if you dont like em.  (and Ive been dying to use the little button that lets me make bulleted lists, Live Journal doesnt let me do that.) Here goes:

  • Enrique Iglesias (yes...you can stop laughing now)
  • The Calling
  • Nickelback
  • Three Doors Down
  • Evanescence
  • Maroon 5
  • Hoobastank
  • Josh Groban
  • Ryan Cabrera

Yes, well thats all I have for now. Perhaps I should go work on those applications, which are the theoretical reason I am still awake right now.

Ciao,

Amrita

Welcome to my blog...

I figured that it would be cool to get one of these.  Forget livejournal and xanga, MIT blogs are where its at! Annny how, im really excited about MIT and everything, and im going to try to arrange a get together for all the early action admitees in the MD/VA/DC area, because it would be nice to get to know one another as soon as we can. Anyone who's interested in that should let me know, and tell me what they are interested in doing. A picnic perhaps? Ice skating? Coffee? Bowling?

Ciao,

amrita
