If you don't know, the Jesuit community lost four people last summer. One was a teacher who died from a disease he contracted during the Gulf War. The other three were then juniors who crashed a jeep while doing 90 down Arden Way. Its rare to loose one person during your highschool career, let alone 4 in one summer.
I thought we were done with it. Even after a student at Rio everyone knew crashed his car. And after one of my best friends died after three years of battling cancer.
But apparently I was wrong. On friday, a now-senior plowed his BMW into a tree while doing somewhere between 80 and 100 on Sierra College Blvd. He's fine. He's hospitalized, but he's awake and will recover. His passenger, now a Sophomore, died on impact.
Why won't people learn? What is it that makes teenagers think they're invincible? Why can they not realize that they are driving massive, powerful machines that can kill people? I know its not impossible. I was able to learn. Most of my friends were able to learn. Why can't these other people learn?
Rest in peace Paul Allen.
That's right, I do!
Normally friday is good, but with the general laziness of senior year, it was nothing special. Now after a 50 hour work week, it feels amazing. I am at home, sitting down at my computer for the first time in about 2 weeks, and my girlfriend will be over in about 15 minutes. Plus, I just got my car back after 3 weeks in the body shop.
Tony is a happy boy.
