ok then... i'm here at MIT :)
it is pretty weird to be here after such a long wait. but i am here, and i like this place.
the TRIP: it took like 30 hours (!) with the waits at the airports and the road. i was surprised by the design of the almaty airport, and i was more surprised by the hugeness of the one in frankfurt. we went to the mcdonald's there.
FRIDAY:
the day of arrival, and the day of the first shock. everything was weird, from water tanks to helicopters. my first sight to boston was WOW, and my first sight on MIT was WOW. and i got to simmons hall, met Kiersten...and got the room 1036. then i met Matt Mcgann at the stratton student center. it was strange to meet him live, and he told that i actually seemed taller on my pics than i really am, is that true? in the evening i met Shahab and some other people, like mentors or international students and we went to the italian restourant in boston. that was not a good idea for my head, cos' i was really tired, and was actually falling asleep right on the table
SATURDAY:
I got my laptop... went to the cambridge galleria. that place is actually similar to the place called GUM in moscow. i walked through the infinity for the first time and i was at the east side of the campus, i have also been to the mit COOP on the kendall square
SUNDAY (today):
now this was a trully cool day :) i met Saad, Elina and Laila in the morning, along with some other people, we had a breakfast together. then i got to the simmons and started surfing the net. i was actually planning to spend the whole day in that way, but Daniela advised me to hang out and i did so. i went to the next house to meet another “online” friend of mine, Vova from Ukraine... we talked a little bit, and then went for a walk around the campus and met Kevin in on the first floor. we got to the baker house where the new transfer student (Gala) from Ukraine lived, picked her up and started walking aroud. we were at stratton and simmons. then i had a call from Jessica (interphase student) and we went to chemistry office hours. it was cool, i really loved it and it was trully the best way to study for my chem AP exam. after that we got to the bexley house... a trully crazy place, a person might easily get lost inside of it... and mostly it's... somewhat a strange place. but then i got to the basement, to the place with the UV-lamps, and i was like wow... this place is cool, though i'm not sure if it's safe to stay under 8 uv-lamps in a small room. then i went to Jessica's room at the new house, we talked for a lil bit, she showed me some pics and, finally, i went to simmons to sleep
overall: i like it here! pics are coming on the next post

Dear Computer,
You have been my best friend for the past 5 years. We have watched very cool movies, listened to great music and played some games... together...
I wouldn't reach everything that I did without you! You gave me the first research experience. You gave me the first IChO problem that I have ever solved. You have introduced me to dozens of new friends. You made me get into MIT...
MIT, because of this great institution I have to leave you this evening. Today I'm heading to Bishkek, to get prepared to my departure to USA. And I'll leave the country next Thursday. You will have to stay with my little brother.
Thank you very much for everything that you have done for me!
let me touch your keyboard... mouse... for the last time...
Good Bye and Be Well!!!
Love,
Meder Kamalov

I have just finished Dan Brown's “The Da Vinci Code”.
A very interesting, exciting and informative book. Informative not in religion, here we must admit, a lot of things are fictional, but in history, geography and arts. the way Brown describes pictures is incredible. the whole book is incredible.
but there were some cons... e.g. Roslin... the Solomons star... when i first read about the star , i guessed that that could be the entrance to the “secret place”. but it took the Harvard professor a lot of time and explations to notice 2 triangles in the star. yeah, there are some similar .. um.. let's call them 'mistakes'.
overall, book is super cool!!! (but the end is rather dull)
after reading the book, i've searched the net for information about the author... and found out that the movie based on this book is coming out next year :)!!!
actors.... i would never think that Langdon looks like Tom Hanks.. i just don't think that Hanks looks like a Harvard professor... even if i have never seen one. But i was right about Bezu Fache. yeah, Jean Reno was the first actor I thought about when i read his descriptions.
so it's on may 19th. i hope to be in the USA on those days and go to watch the movie with my MIT friends.
Science... I would normally think that science helps people. Scientists spend hours in the lab just to make the life on earth easier... but not today... not today
AUGUST 6th
The atomic bomb named "Little Boy" was dropped on Hiroshima (Japan) at 8:15 in the morning of August 6, 1945, 60 years ago
Clocks that stopped right at that moment:

(thnx to H. Tsuchida)
I have no more words...
i got my glasses back! now i feel better, walk better and see better!
Summer... only one month left...
right now i'm preparing fo the chem ASE. well, and start to doubt my chances.
next week, i'm going to buy some souvenirs and postcards for all of my blog readers at MIT :D.
We're departing to Issyk Kule next Thursday or Friday and it means that I have a little more than a week to spend in Osh...
In less than 3... again less than 3.. wow. that's pretty little... so, in less than 3 weeks i've got a flight to Boston.
=========
i went swimming yesterday... spent there about 4 hours... got extremely tired... slept 16 hours after that...
that's my record...
