Short Definition of HDMI

So what is an HDMI? I'm not a kind of savvy tech-guy so at first I supposed it was the acronym for the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Institute. Cool enough, wasn't it? Two days ago, my friend came up and asked whether I could tell him where to buy HDMI cables or at least point out where he could find HDMI cables online store. Later, I found out that it has the connection to what I usually deal with everyday.

I have a large set of home theater in my livingroom and oftenly spend my time with it to watch my latest favorite movies. I thought I've known every details of that home theater since I used to explore the features to optimize its performance. But unfortunately, I haven't. It has the HDMI socket and I never realized what was that for, until now.

High-Definition Multimedia Interface, that's what those experts say. It is the term to standard interface used for audiovisual equipment such as high-definition television and home theater. As the name represents the High-Definition term, the HDMI puts its feature to deliver best quality uncompressed all-digital signal.

As we know, the analog interface translates the digital signal to a less precise analog signal, and converts the signal back to digital as it reach the television screen. You may exercise poor and distorted picture quality on your screen because the digital signal loses integrity at each translation. HDMI interfaces preserves the source signal while eliminating the analog signal conversion to deliver the best quality picture.

Not only pictures, but HDMI also has its best performance in delivering the sound quality as it carries up to eight digital audio channels for a true surround sound. I believe that will makes your home theater become a true theater.

I think I should thank my friend as he had brought me the useful question. And now I should find where I can find online stores which sell HDMI cables. For me and for my friend, also.
