There is now a blog for the CS Jobs List (internal to the MIT Community - you must be on campus).

What is a weblog?
A weblog is a web page containing structured data that is updated on a regular basis. It resembles an online diary or a journal; entries are dated and each day the weblog web page contains something new.

What is an RSS (Rich Site Summary) feed?
An RSS feed is a regularly updated XML document that contains metadata about a web source and the content in it. It is used to syndicate website content, news, educational resources.

What is an RSS Aggregator?
Aggregators are the most common use of the RSS feeds. You can subscribe to feeds of your interest and gather all the relevant information at one place. RSS Aggregator periodically reads sets of RSS files and indexes them for display and syndication which can be centralised or personnel. You can find many RSS readers online that can be downloaded for free.

Anonymous comments are back!

 To enable anonymous comments:

  1. Login
  2. Go to your blog
  3. Select “My Settings”
  4. Make sure “Enable Comments” is set to “yes”.
  5. Set “Enable Anonymous Comments” to “yes”
You can also control anonymous comments on a per entry basis. Select “Advanced Settings” when you author a new entry.

Short Blog paths(URL) are back!

 The old, and short, path structure is back:

The new code has discussion forums and galleries in addition to blogs. Your old username and password will give you access to all the server features. The blog server is being rebuilt this week, let us know if you encounter any problems. The list of blogs is here.
